Quelat National Park - Chile

Quelat - Hanging Glacier - Chile. A two hour trek up through an untouched temperate forest to reach this unusual hanging glacier. Suspended in the air as if time had frozen over. The pale shimmering blue ice seeping into every crack possible in the rock trying to reach the lake below. Plants and flowers clung and wrapped themselves to and around every branch and space possible along the walk, giant leaves an elephant would even struggle to eat.

Carretera Austral - Chile - Nature at its best.

Carretera Austral - Chile For me one of the most beautiful and most scenic part of my trip. The colourful, bursting with life Carretera Austral was overwhelmed by plants and flowers so vibrant the eye never knew which direction to look in as you were surrounded by natural beauty. We camped on the hillside next to a stunning still blue lake. The weather was fantastic so we took full advantage of the lake and all got in. Crystal clear water as far as the eye could see, so fresh and cool. Cooking dinner outside looking out onto the lake was any chefs dream. The night was then followed by a competative game of beer pong!

A long road to no-where...Argentina

A very long road as if heading to no-where! Hot day travelling across empty lands in Argentina heading towards the Chilean border. Stop at the Cave of Hands, sat on the roof of the truck whilst driving along to the point you could not feel your face anymore and finally another bush camp with an incredible sunset of into the far distance. Star watching with star app. on the phone to help guide us to formations. The clearest nights sky I have yet to see in my life. No other source of light to be seen in any direction, not even the moon.

El Chalten - Fitzroy Range - Patagonia - Argentina

El Chalten and the Fitzroy range - Patagonia - Argentina. Heading further north we reach our next trekking destination. Again a very weird little town which has no substance, but once again the landscape is outstanding. First days trek is a 9 hour trek too reach lago los tres. Two stunning turquoise lagoons nestled into the rocks of the mountains directly infront of the main fitzroy peaks. Frozen sheets of ice float peacefully along the surface, whilst the deep tones of the water reflect the stillness and beauty of what sits above the surface. An incredibly difficult last 2 hour climb to get there, but the reward made you lost for words. The second day we headed towards another lagoon the otherside of the mountain peaks. What we thought would be a fairly casual short trek, again turned into a six hour walk, through diverse landscapes and constantly changing terrain. Luckily it has all been able to remain fairly untouched and unaffected by the humans that flood there to experience the uniqueness of the fitzroy range throughout the summer season. Another natural wonder combatted and experienced to check off the list!

Perito Moreno Glacier - Patagonia - Chile

Perito Moreno Glacier - Patagonia - Argentina We arrived in a peculiar little town called El Calafate, composed off one main street littered with tourist shops and outdoor wear. The following day we headed towards the glacier. Taking a boat trip to the front of it. Possibly the worst weather so far on the trip, fresh snow on the hill tops, freezing rain and wind..not a great combo when you have to get out onto the deck to take photos. My hands were numb and gloves soaked through. But forgetting the weather, the face of the glaciar a staggering 30 meters above water level and another 20 below. The staggering height of pure ice made the boat and us feel like little ants facing a fence. The pale blue tone and sound of cracking and falling ice was truely magical. We returned by boat and headed to a walkway which came close to the glaciar top and bottom, the weather began to clear and the ice became a shimmering white.

Torres Del Paine - Patagonia - Chile

National Park - Torres Del Paine - Patagonia - Chile. This stunning national park in the heart of Patagonia made us all utterly silent as we approached the turquoise lake with snow capped towers climbing into the sky in the distance. We camped here for four nights and spent the days exploring all areas of the park. Whilst others went out to do the famous W Walk, a few of us stayed back at camp and explored smaller walks and saved the final three towers (torres) for the last day. We were incredibly lucky with the weather, but the wind would still knock you off your feet. Whilst standing on top of one of the hills you could almost fly over the lake. The last days trek was incredibly hard and nearly gave up a few times, but something inside, sheer will power and desire too reach the 3 towers and the lagoon kept me going. An incredibly hot day with intense sun. The scenery was so diverse and colourful. Narrow strips of uneven soil described as pathways somehow remain clinging to the very edge of the mountain sides. Every step taken is with great caution and appreciation of being in such a stunning environment. When you got to the top it was incredibly rewarding and the most spectacular postcard view possible. I was even lucky enough to see two germans guys go skinny dipping into the water and photograph it!! The days of light were truely magnificent...almost 24 hours of sunlight. I felt like a kid going to sleep when it was still light and the moon was not even out yet by 11:30pm. The sun did not lay for rest for long and was back out by 5am. Unfortunately a couple of weeks after we left a terrible fire burnt out alot of the park, such a shame to such a beautiful place. I hope with time it will return to how amazing we were able to experience it at.
