Foz do Iguacu - Brasil

Sheer heat hit me the minute I stepped off the plane in Foz do Iguacu, but the refreshing spray from the showers the following day made me happy to be able to experience one of the 7th wonders of the world, truely magical on an incredible scale.

Ayacucho - Peru

After a very long and uncomfortable 23 hour bus ride through rural Peru, I arrived in the small city of Ayacucho which sits up in the Andes.  A city with no tourists and a great chance to see locals living in their lives in Peru without the interference of gringos!  I spent two days exploring the narrow streets and markets finding anything your mind could think of piled high-up on make shift stalls.

Machu Picchu, Salt mines and more Inca farming - Peru

The day had come to reach Machu Picchu to see the work of the Inca's at its finest.  I opted for the two days one night trip to see Machu Picchu and unfortunately we were very un-lucky with the weather.  The pouring rain and cold drenched us too our bones for three hours, but it did not dampen our spirits and we kept exploring every corner of the magical and mysterious site.  As the clouds finally lifted and the sun rays began to creep their way through, we were able to see the peaks of the mountains and the magic that spiraled around us.

About one hour out of Cusco sit these incredible working salt mines.  Only producing salt over a few months of the year due to a long rainy season and muddy water mixing with the salt water to create what appear to be pools of chocolate colored milk.

Puno, Floating Islands and Tequila Island - Lake Titicaca - Peru

Maybe ruined some what by tourists, but the floating islands still illustrate the extreme places people can exist in and the simplicity in which it is possible to survive.  The beautiful outfits always caught my eye and I could not help but snap every different color that flashed passed me.  Families living together on hand-made floating reed island which need constant attention due to extreme weather conditions and the materials used.  Simplicity and beauty are the main words to describe the islands, environments, people and way of living.  

A trip to Tequila Island then followed, similar to the Inca island of Isla dol Sol, small communities exist through farming, fishing and tourists.  Truely unique islands with incredible people.
